Brother DSmobile 700D Printer Reviews– Brother recently launched his first standalone devices. The range of three business-oriented models includes a A3 scanner and two portable USB document scanners, of which the DS-700D is a higher-rated model. It’s a tough market where there are already quality devices from competitors like HP, Fujitsu and Canon, so we’re interested in how it competes with DS-700D.

First impressions are good. The DS-700D is priced Podbivajki the excellent Canon ImageFormula P-215 with about £35, and unlike most of the competitors, it comes with a pouch. Although this is a simple, inexpensive bag, it’s enough to protect your scanner from dust and scratches. The scanner itself is made of plastic with a strong feeling and feels impervious to bending or twisting, except for a flexible area just above the output paper slot.

Unfortunately, things are starting to descend down. It is a simple device with only one function button and light for the condition. There is no input tray, so the sheets must be submitted individually by hand and there is not even a sliding width that supports the paper straight. His specification is unbearable. There is nothing wrong with the optical resolution of 600 dpi in this class, but the quoted 10 images per minute (IPM) maximum speed are not impressive, especially when it comes to mono scanning only.

In our DS-700D tests proved to be even slower than we expected, taking almost six minutes to capture both sides of 10 sheets of A4 paper at 150 dots per inch (dpi). By comparison, the Canon P-215 completed the same test for 91 seconds with optical character recognition (OCR) enabled. DS-700D took 18 seconds to scan one side at 150 dpi and 32 seconds to scan at 300 dpi. While the image quality of the results was acceptable for office work, several fine vertical lines somewhat spoiled the photo test by 600 dpi.

Manual paper feeding is a common occurrence in this type of scanner, but we found that it was not always easy to offer sheets on the DS-700D, as some looked frozen on the right side of the paper input area. Thin pages of the magazine compassed a slightly distorted path through the scanner, producing slightly curved results. We also learned to wait until the transport of paper was stopped after removing the previous sheet before adding another, as otherwise it would have been downloaded quickly without being included in the scan.

As long as the scanner hardware is not the best, it’s the included software that really disappoints. The best competitors have excellent one-touch scanning modes that automatically handle a diverse pile of paper, but the Brother DSmobilSCAN II software leaves the user to decide whether to scan in color or in greyscale and whether to capture one or Both sides of the originals. While delivering Presto! PageManager 9 can use OCR to create a searchable PDF file, it cannot suppress blank pages or automatically rotated pages that are upside down.

The DS-700D may seem like a lucrative deal, but in practice it is comfortably superior to several competitors. We’ll gladly pay more for Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 or Canon ImageFormula P-215.
